Article: “Government acts to curb younger smokers” (Pg A1 & A4)

Questions:

What are some measures by the government to curb smoking?.
They will catch those teenager who are under age caught smoking. They will also catch those seller who sell cigarette to teenager who are under age of 18.
How successful do you think these measures would be?
Support your answer with reasons.
It will be successful s the measures will help to decrease the number of teenager who are under age smoke. As the teeneger will not get a chance to buy cigarette as they are under age.

Reflection Question:

How do you feel about MRT commuters eating and drinking blatantly on the train?

I feel that the commuters have no self control of themselves.They are also very selfish and inconsiderate too. While they were eating , they will disturb others passenger as the smell of the food is not suitable to them and it will dirty the train if the food spill .

Article: “I was an addict” – ‘Straits Times IN’ Section (In The Air Pg 2)

1a) What are some of the earliest signs mentioned in the article to indicate that a person is addicted to gaming?
The first second earliest sign mention is skipping meals and lost sleep,called yourself an avater name.

1b) State some of the methods listed by the author to overcome the addiction to gaming.
Get 1 of the family member to lock herslef up and took her 3 months to overcome the addiction.
2) What are some of your reactions after reading this article? If a close friend of yours confesses to you that he/she is addicted to online games, what would your advice to him/her be?
i will show this article to him and told him to overcome the addiction.

Term 2 Week 3 (9th April)
Article: “HFMD cases near epidemic level”– ‘Home’ Section (Pg B3)

1) How does HFMD spread and what are some of the preventive measures that the childcare centres and kindergartens have taken to ensure that the disease is contain?
The disease is spread mostly to the children espcially those who have no toilet trained.The disease is spread through saliva. Some preventive for childcare centres are habit of washing hands. Hands should be wash after blowing nose , after toilet.

2)In your opinion, what implications will the childcare centres face if the HFMD issue escalates further?
The childcare centres will not have much children to take care as the parents of the children will scare that their will infected the HMFD.

Straits Times Reflection 7 Term 2 Week 2

Article: “Sorry guys, these lots are not for you” – ‘Home’ Section (Pg B1)

Question 1:
What were some of the reasons cited in the article why there was a need to have parking lots for women only in these buildings?
It is because there is shopping mall there.....
Question 2:
(a) In your opinion, do you think it is necessary to allocate parking lots for women only? Why?
No. Because not only the women bring kids out. Some of the men also bring kids out. The reason for making the allocating is because of the convenience of having the kids. As those parking lots is close to the lifts.
(b) Which group of people do you then feel should be allocated such priority parking? Explain.
I think that the allocate of parking lots need to be both the men and women who having kids or elderly,as elderly cannot manage to walk lond distance. I think also for the family whose member is handicapped as it is convenience for tham.

Article: “Help for single mums in downturn” – ‘Main’ Section (Pg A4-5)

Question 1:
What project was launched to help single mums? Briefly explain what is this project about?
The new project by the labour movement launched yesterday to marked international women's day. The name of the project is WE CARE FOR U.The aim is to help divorcees and widow. They will get help by finding jobs and also able to join support group for them .
Question 2:
Imagine you come across a single mum who is unemployed, what are some advice you can give her? Who can she turn to?
I will advice her to seek help from the project and ask her to have job. with job and salary, she can support her family.

Question 1: What were some indications which showed that the victim was facing problems before he committed the rash act?
He everytime play computer games for hours on end and seldom seen outside the hostel. He will chat with his friends at MSN. And recently he did not.
Question 2:
(a) Is it very stressful being a student in Singapore? Explain.
yes. because it is very challengeing.
(b) What are some problems you face as a student which adds to your stress level?
When other people score well for certain subject, u aim to do better than it therefore this add to the stress level.
